AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER FOR MANY MANY MANY YEARS-& HAVING HUNDREDS OF EMPLOYEES OVER THE YEARS—— I WOULD LIKE TO PAY PEOPLE WHAT THEY ARE WORTH OR THEIR WORK PERFORMANCE!!! MANY TIMES I HAD SOOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE WORKING FOR ME IN SERVICE WORK– THAT KNEW EVERY WAY TO BEAT THE SYSTEM– HOW MANY DAYS TO WORK– BEFORE THEY COULD DRAW UN-EMPLOYMENT– I HAVE HAD EMPLOYEES– THAT NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PAID THEM– THEY DIDN’T PLAN ON DOING ANYTHING— OR THE LEAST POSSIBLE– & WOULD STEAL YA BLIND– I HAVE WORKED ALONG SIDE MY EMPLOYEES– DID EVERYTHING HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO HELP THEM– EVEN GIVEN THEM TRANSPORTATION TO GET BACK & FORTH TO WORK– JUST RAISING “minimum wage” IS NOT THE ANSWER–BELIEVE ME—— I TRAINED– WORKED– LOVED— CARED— DID MY BEST– & SOME JUST DON’T CARE–& WILL NOT WORK TO EVEN THE BEST OF ALL GIVEN TO THEM– I HAVE PAID OVER minimum wage & WE HAVE DONE EVERY THING HUMANLY POSSIBLE— BUT– RAISING minimum wage FOR EVERYONE IS NOT AN ANSWER– IT PUTS SMALL BUSINESSES OUT OF BUSINESS– THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE EMPLOYED BY SMALL BUSINESS– THEN LARGE CORPORATIONS!!! IF YOU WANT SMALL BUSINESS TO SURVIVE — YOU CAN’T KEEP RAISING THE minimum wage– AND SMALL BUSINESSES BEING ABLE TO FIND WORKERS TO WORK– OR WHO WILL WORK— YOU ASK AMY & I MEAN ANY SMALL BUSINESS OWNER THEIR MAIN PROBLEMS– & IT IS FINDING HONEST — RELIABLE — DEPENDABLE HELP-THAT WILL SHOW UP & WORK— NO MATTER WHAT THE WAGE!!! BUT IF FORCED TO RAISE WAGES– TOO MANY SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS– PLUS ALL THE HOOPS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THEN WANTS YA TO DO– MANY THOUSAND CAN’T STAY IN BUSINESS– & MANY CAN’T START SMALL BUSINESSES ANY MORE!!! MY HEALTH WAS ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS I SOLD MY LAST BUSINESS– BUT— YOU DON’T EVEN WANT ME TO STEP UP ON MY SOAP BOX ABOUT THIS ONE— ALL BACK TO EDUCATION– VALUES–TEACHING PEOPLE THE BASICS & RESPECT– & WORK ETHICS & -&- !! I HIRED MANY MANY MANY HUNDRED EMPLOYEES OVER THE YEARS– & ALL HAD TO FILL OUT A JOB APPLICATION– & IN ALL OF THOSE JOB APPLICATIONS—- I MAYBE HAD 5 JOB APPLICATIONS EVEN FILLED OUT PROPERLY!!! BUT IF YOU FILLED OUT A JOB APPLICATION WITH ME– EVEN IF IT WAS SO YOU COULD CONTINUE YOUR UNEMPLOYMENT & YOU REALLY DIDN’T WANT A JOB– — YOU GOT A CLASS FROM ME ON HOW TO PROPERLY FILL OUT YOUR NEXT JOB APPLICATION– EVEN IF THEY DIDN’T CARE– OR EVER USED WHAT I TAUGHT THEM!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY— BUT WAY TOOOOOOOOOOOO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS- & MANAG3ED A BUSINESS OR MADE PAYROLL–OR HAVE A CLUE– ARE MAKING LAWS– FOR THOSE WHO ARE FIGHTING EVERY DAY TO KEEP THEIR HEADS ABOVE WATER—& STAY OPEN HAVE JOBS FOR MANY–& & INCREASING minimum wage TOO MANY WHO DON’T DO minimum wage WORK– WILL CONTINUE KILLING SMALL BUSINESSES WHO HIRE MORE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY THEN LARGE CORPORATIONS DO– IS NOT THE ANSWER——- SORRY— A REAL REAL SORE SPOT FOR ME– WHO HAS OVER 50 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN OWNING SMALL BUSINESSES!!!!!!
I have heard recently how Seattle established its minimum wage for the entire city at $15 an hour. There was of course some who thought this was going to be a problem. Apparently, not so much. Seattle continues to prosper. If you’ve read enough of my blog posts you are now waiting to read — what the heck does minimum wage have to do with love?
I used to think when I was a kid that there were people who were showered with more love than they knew what to do with. (Yes. I read romance novels as a teen). And there were people who were abused and received very little love. And then there was the middle — people who had a few friends and maybe a semi-happy marriage — loved but not ecstatic This middle was to me most of the people.
